Hey, there's some positive news regarding NFTs! Mojang has put out a new guide on the rules governing NFTs and blockchain. There are a lot of scams out there when it comes to NFTs, particularly when it comes to companies that use blockchain when they don't need it. Thankfully, Mojang have listened and issued some rules, and the basic idea is that integrations of NFTs in Minecraft are generally not something we allow or even support they said. Their blog post on news provides a brief intro to the nature of NFTs and giving a brief overview of the reasons they have rules for server owners as well as content creators, which is to ensure that Minecraft remains a community where everyone has access to the same content. The issue is how NFTs create models of scarcity and exclusion that are in contradiction to our Guidelines and the nature of Minecraft. Mojang have made their position explicit about it, declaring that As such to ensure that Minecraft players have a safe and enjoyable experience, blockchain technologies are not allowed to be integrated into our Minecraft client and server applications, nor are they used to create NFTs with any game-related content, such as worlds, persona items, skins or any other mods. . This is good, because it should hopefully prevent another Blockverse, which was supposed to be a on-chain Ethereum NFT that could enable a unique P2E on Minecraft. Can you guess what happened? They took a large sum of money, and then disappeared with it. However they're not ruling out the possibility of using blockchain within Minecraft in the event that it can allow for more secure experiences or other applications that are practical and inclusive in gaming but they currently have no plans to use it right now.
